Staff
Alan Horowitz, Program Coordinator
During Alan’s tenure at Out for Equity he has gathered extensive data on effective strategies to reduce homophobia and promote respect in schools. These strategies include classroom lessons, school-wide awareness events, staff training, and the development of support groups, after school clubs,
youth recreation centers and leadership retreats. This cutting edge work is highlighted in the Safe Schools Manual, published by the Saint Paul Schools.
Over the past five years Alan has conducted over 50 staff trainings for over 2,500 youth serving adults. These trainings address the effects of marginalization on all groups of people treated unfairly because of difference.
Miriam Itzkowitz, Social Worker
Miriam Itzkowitz, MSW, LGSW is Out for Equity's full-time social worker. Miriam received her BA at Grinnell College and her MSW at the University of Minnesota. Miriam's experience is working with adolescents around issues of mental health, healthy relationships, and violence prevention.
